Burning Tips
| |
Never leave candle burning unattended |
| |
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets. Also on
this subject, keep your dogs tail in mind with this safety tip. Many
candle accidents are associated with a dog's tail. |
| |
Always place candles in heat safe containers |
| |
Avoid burning candles near flammable materials, such as
curtains, cleaners, etc. |
| |
Trim wicks to 1/4" before lighting. Our wicks are made
with self trimming wicks in which after you cut the wicks and light
them, the wicks will keep at that height in the right conditions. This
ensures a quality burn. |
| |
Avoid picking up a lit candle. Container will be hot and
a portion of the candle wax will be liquefied and could spill or even
burn. Caution should be taken. |

Recycle Birthday candles! Birthday candles are perfect
for lighting your hard to reach candles, like hurricanes or votives in
glasses, where a match just does not seem to do the trick. Just keep in
mind to not hold the Birthday candle upside down or the hot wax will
extinguish the flame, just at a slight angle. Safest way is to tilt the
unlit candle towards the lit birthday candle to light |

Proper etiquette is to light your candles and then
extinguish them prior to lighting them for a party. This ensures a
quality burn during your party as well as showing your guest that you
entertain often. Old myth is that a previously burned wick will bring
good fortune and happiness to all your guests. |
| |
Avoid drafts. Drafts will tilt the flame causing an
uneven burn and may cause your candle to drip as well as forcing too
much wax to burn too quickly. This is how black soot is formed. |
| |
Never pick up a candle from the wick if been
burned. Wicks are quite fragile after being burned and can break from
just being touched. Do not worry if this has happened. Simple fix is to
either light and wait for he wax pool to form in which you can simply
blow out the candle and with a paper towel "wick" the wax away ( this is
done by inserting the end of the paper towel into the wax pool. The
paper towel will then absorb the melted wax and allow for the wick to be
the ideal 1/4") or carving away some wax from around the wick. The last
is a bit more tricky because the wick can be cut if not careful.

Candles should be stored in ideally 60°f-
80°f to keep retain the candles shape and fragrance. |

To clean your candles, use a piece
of soft nylon. Never use water to clean candles. Wicks can become
moistened and can affect the burn. |
| |
Avoid putting candles in direct
sunlight for an extended length of time. Sunlight can fade the color of
the candle as well as possibly distorting the look of the candle. |

To remove wax form your holders,
place your holder in the refrigerator. the wax will become hard and
brittle enough to just flake off when broken. Never use running hot
water to clean your holders. This will only melt the wax into your
plumbing line ( a very costly problem) as well as leave a film of wax on
the holder. |
| |
If wax happens to get on your
clothes, try not to rub the wax off while it is still warm. Instead wait
for the wax to harden and scrape off as much of the wax as you can. The
left over residue can be washed out in your laundry. |
| |
To clean the soot that some candles
can leave behind in your jars or holders, simply rub off with a clean
paper towel. Never use cleaners or water inside the jars. Cleaners will
leave residue on the jars and will burn off when lit, possibly making
your candles toxic from the cleaners.
Water
can get on your wick, causing possible improper burn. |
| |
To remove wax from inside a jar candle,
simply use a spoon to scrape it out. Container wax is a very soft material
(especially gel wax) and is a low melt point. Do not put jar candles in the
freezer to remove the wax. Freezing this wax will have little to know
effect. Also, glass can break in temperature change. |
